Top to Bottom Skiing!

Purgatory opens this Saturday, November 17, and we are stoked to announce that we will be open top to bottom! We managed to get a few minutes with Sam Williams, Purgatory’s senior director of mountain operations, to tell us what we can expect beginning Opening Day:

PURG: Top to bottom access! What trails will be open?
SW: We’ll be skiing and riding Westfork, Upper Demon, Lower Demon, El Diablo, and Bank. As we open additional terrain, we’ll update the snow report.

PURG: What lifts will be open?
SW: Lifts 1 and 2

PURG: Any terrain parks?
SW: We will have a small park located on the skier’s left of the Bank. It hasn’t been built yet, but you can expect at least 3-4 features.

PURG: Will there be a green trail?
SW: We will have teaching areas for ski school, although we will not have a green run open on Saturday.

PURG: In the past, guests could ski *and* mountain bike on Opening Day. Is that available?
SW: No – those trails are covered in snow!

PURG: It’s feeling like winter these days – how has snowmaking been going?
SW: We’ve seen some of our best temperatures yet this season these last few days, and we expect great temps heading into Saturday, too. Our snowmakers have done an absolutely phenomenal job getting us going this year – check out this video to see what the team has been up to as of lately.

PURG: What areas are you targeting next with snowmaking?
SW: We’re making a big push right now to get the Columbine area open and we’re also focused on Paradise and Tinker’s Dam.

PURG: How can I get on the first chair on Saturday?
SW: Arrive early! The first six people in line will get the coveted first chair. We can’t wait to see you then!
