Driving to Durango

Accessing Purgatory Resort — located a short 27 miles from Durango — is both easy and efficient.

Driving to Durango is a breeze, with both Highway 550 and Highway 160 intersecting this little mountain town. Many major cities across the Southwest can access Durango by car in less than a day, while others can break the drive into two short days. From Durango, Purgatory is only a quick, 30 minute drive up Highway 550, providing easy access to the slopes.

Albuquerque – 4 hours

Denver – 6 hours

Phoenix – 7 hours

Dallas – 13 hours

Houston – 16.5 hours

Purgatory Lodge/ Check-in: Directions

From Highway 550, pass under the Purgatory Resort entrance and head straight up the road. At the top of the hill, take a left. At the stop sign, take a slight left onto Sheol St. In 100 feet, you will see the Purgatory Lodge entrance on your right.

Kendall: Directions

From the front desk, exit the check-in lot and take a left onto Sheol St. and head northeast for 450 feet. Take a right on Purgatory Blvd. and follow the curve around and back toward the resort. Take a left on Needles Way and look for the Kendall Building.

Eolus: Directions

From the front desk, exit the check-in lot and take a left onto Sheol St. and head northeast for 450 feet. Take a right on Purgatory Blvd. and follow the curve around and back toward the resort. Take a left on Needles Way, heading straight past the Kendall Building. The Eolus parking garage is on the right.

Cascade: Directions

From the front desk, exit the check-in lot and take a left onto Sheol St. Head straight for .1 miles and then take a right on Skier Pl. heading back down the hill to exit the resort. Take a left on Highway 550. In 1.9 miles, take a left.
