Purgatory’s Summer Bucket List
Now that school’s out, we know parents are always on the hunt for exciting ways to keep their children entertained all summer. Luckily at Purgatory Resort, there are dozens of summer bucket list items to check off! From our new Summer Tubing slope to the Muck & Mire Mud Adventure Race, don’t hesitate to take advantage of these kid-approved events and activities!
If your family is ready for an extreme day in the sun, purchase a Total Adventure Ticket to gain access to Purgatory’s spectacular summer experiences!
One of this year’s most exciting highlights is the opening of our Summer Tubing slope. After ascending Columbine Lift 9, you’ll whiz down 900 feet of speedy material for a truly heart-pumping adrenaline rush!
And coming soon, the brand new Big Airbag Jump let’s you freefall from our 12’ or 18’ platforms onto an inflatable 50’ x 50’ airbag—the same kind used for movie stunts!
Even the youngest members of the family will enjoy a cruise around Twilight Lake! You can choose from paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, inflatable boats, or pedal boats. And for the first time ever, your Total Adventure Ticket will allow you to rent from Durango Board & Boat.
Other summer staples include the Alpine Slide, Plunge Zipline, Ropes Course, and Bungee Trampoline. Learn more about our unforgettable experiences here—and don’t forget to buy your ticket online at least 48 hours in advance to save up to $40!
Children and adults alike can’t get enough of this down ‘n’ dirty adventure race on Aug. 5. Whether you tough it out on the 5K course (with over 20 obstacles, including mud pits, hay bales, and a giant slip n’ slide) or accompany your little mudder on the “Mini Muck,” the fun—and mess— is sure to entertain. Be sure to register by June 15th for the lowest pricing!
Movie Night Under the Stars
On July 2nd, head up to Purgatory for an enchanting movie night under the stars. While the movie is still TBD, this family-friendly event is a surefire bet for anyone with children. Simply meet at “the beach” before dark (around 8:15pm), lay out your blankets or camping chairs, kick back, and relax! And don’t worry—if the weather is bad, we’ll move the event inside the festival tent!
PACK Summer Camp
Need a flexible day camp schedule this summer? Enroll your child in Purgatory’s Adventure Camp for Kids (PACK) summer camp! Children will experience the best of Purgatory’s family-friendly activities, outdoor adventures, and exciting weekly themes. Bonus: a bus service runs from many convenient Durango locations!
Are the kids in need of an “Old West” experience? Consider booking a horseback ride with Buck’s Livery. The experienced wranglers will take your family on an adventure through the San Juan National Forest and Cascade Canyon on one-hour, two-hour, half-day, all-day, or sunset excursions.
