Steamworks Brewing Co. opened its doors in Durango in September 1996. A favorite watering hole for locals & visitors alike, the brewpub has much more to offer than award-winning craft beer. Known as a town meeting place, Steamworks enjoys a bustling, fun environment.Steamworks’ culinary program is unmatched in the region in both breadth and quality of offerings. Its “gastropub” fare includes regionally raised meats and sustainable seafood. Healthy salads, delicious pizzas, spicy Southwestern-style dishes and vegetarian and gluten-free offerings provide something for everyone.
At Purgatory Resort, Steamworks features Nitro Backside Stout on draft at Purgy’s. Inspired by the backside of the ski resort, the Stout has an extremely complex malt and oat flavor. It’s sweet with chocolate and roast overtones, and the addition of the perfect amount of brewer’s oats is detectable in the smooth, silky finish. This moderately hopped ale is a great choice for dark beer, chocolate or coffee lovers and has earned both Gold and Bronze Medals at the Great American Beer Festival since 2010.
Purgatory Resort is proud to partner with Steamworks Brewing Company. Visit the Steamworks website at http://www.steamworksbrewing.com or head to their restaurant downtown, 801 East 2nd Avenue.
El Moro Spirits & Tavern was created in the building that once housed the El Moro Saloon in the early 1900’s (see image). The food is modern-rustic: designed to blend classic, old world preparations with modern culinary techniques to highlight the qualities of the ingredients. The menu changes seasonally and concentrates on the area’s local ranches and farms. Handcrafted cocktails, an extensive beer list and more than forty wines, all approachable & affordable, round out the beverage menu. Knowledgeable staff can assist with meal & beverage pairings. Bon appétit!
