Plan Your Day at Purg

Getting hot in town? Come on up to the cool mountains to enjoy fantastic views, wildflowers and favorite activities such as the Inferno Mountain Coaster, alpine slide, downhill biking and more. Read on to learn what’s open, what’s new and what to expect this season.


This summer we’re offering seven activities: The Inferno Mountain Coaster, alpine slide, downhill mountain biking, scenic chairlift rides, boards & boats, kids off road track and treasure panning. (Certain activities from previous summers will not be operating due to COVID restrictions.)

New this season, we’re offering two activity sessions: Morning tickets are valid from 9am-12:30pm and afternoon tickets are valid from 12:30pm-4pm. Activity tickets can be purchased online here and mountain bike only tickets can be purchased online here. Activity tickets must be purchased online in advance.

Summer Adventure Passholders: Please make a reservation online in advance to secure your activity session.

  1. Go to the Activities Calendar, and select the date you would like to visit.
  2. Enter your information.
  3. Select your session (Morning or Afternoon).
  4. On the Shopping Cart page, enter code PASSHOLDER, and click “apply code.”
  5. This will zero out your balance and reserve your activity session.
  6. On the day of your reservation, stop by the ticket office with your pass to pick up your wristband.
  7. Have Fun!

Note tickets not claimed after an hour of their start time will be released.

Passholders who are ready to visit but have not yet received their pass in the mail can have their pass printed at the Main Ticket Office in the Village Plaza or at Purgatory Sports located at 2615 Main Ave. 
Purgatory Sports in Durango is not able to take photos at this time. If you don’t already have a photo on file you can upload one following the link in your confirmation/receipt email. 

Mountain Biking

All of our frontside downhill trails are opening this Saturday including our newest trail, Shangri-La! Please note backside cross country trails are currently closed for mandatory wildlife closures. Keep an eye on our trail report for updates. 

The Mountain Bike Power Pass and 2020/2021 Power Pass (which includes mountain biking this year) are direct to lift, so please head straight to Lift 1 with your pass. If you haven’t received your pass yet you can swing by Purgatory Sports in Durango or the Main Ticket Office to have yours printed.
Purgatory Sports in Durango is not able to take photos at this time. If you don’t already have a photo on file you can upload one following the link in your confirmation/receipt email. 

Need a bike? Cycle Works bike shop will be open in the base area offering rental bikes and protective gear. Purgatory Sports in Durango also offers rentals.

Mountain bike lessons are highly recommended for beginners and those looking to brush up on skills or learn new techniques. Lessons are offered daily. 24-hour advance registration is highly recommended. Call 970-385-2181 to reserve.

Food & Beverage

The Bear Bar, Paradise Pizzeria and Village Market and Deli will all be open this summer serving up pizza, ice cream and delicious picnic fare. Food will be available to enjoy in our increased outdoor dining space or to-go.


Purgatory Sports, located in the Village Center building in the base area, will be open selling a variety of clothing and accessories from your favorite brands as well as necessities such as sunscreen, chapstick and more. Alpine Chic, Branded and The Board Room will not be open this summer, but you’ll find some of their inventory at Purgatory Sports including swimsuits and Purg branded souvenirs. 

Other Services

Our FREE shuttles will be running between the Village Plaza and outlying activities starting Saturday. Shuttles operate on a continuous loop and are available from 9am-4pm daily. Face coverings are required.
