Non-skiers rejoice! Maybe you’ve taken our free lesson for first timers and decided skiing or snowboarding is just not for you. You can still enjoy Purgatory Resort and the surrounding areas with many great events and activities!
Activities at Purgatory
Inferno Mountain Coaster
Our newest thrill leaves you in control as you take in mountain views during 9 switchbacks and one 360-degree loop. Children 36″+ can ride with an adult.
Located in the Columbine area, the tubing hill offers multiple designated tubing-only lanes! This activity is perfect for those those at least 36″/3 years old.
Scenic Snowcat Tours
A unique experience, Purgatory offers both scenic snowcat tours and 5-course gourmet dinners. Reservations are required.
Snowshoeing is easy with the help of the chairlift, included rentals, and our friendly and knowledgeable guides. Check out the special Alpenglow tours for spectacular colors and on-mountain apres drinks and snacks. Reservations are required.
Get whisked through the snow by beautiful draft horses while enjoying breathtaking views.
Professional guides will show you how to operate snowmobiles and guide you through a variety of terrain options. This fun activity is suitable for drivers ages 16+ and passengers ages 4+.
The village plaza is a great place to shop ’til you drop! Offering everything from apparel and gear for the whole family to jewelry, toys, gifts, Purgatory souvenirs and more.
If activities have left you famished, grab a bite or drink at one of the base area outlets. If you want to watch the skiers and boarders Purgy’s Slopeside and The Bear Bar & Grille are great options.

Activities in the Area
The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad has been operating since 1882 and is known in the winter for it’s magical Polar Express rides.
Located 25 miles south of Purgatory Resort, Durango has a charming downtown with shopping, art galleries, restaurants, breweries, and year-round recreation opportunities.
Soak in the hot, relaxing pools after a day playing outside in nearby Durango Hot Springs Resort & Spa.
National Parks & Monuments
While you’re in the area visit and learn about Ancestral Puebolan ruins. A favorite, Mesa Verde National Park, offers some of the largest and best-preserved sites in the United States.
