New Lift, Trails and Park for New Year’s Eve!

Just in time for tonight’s NYE Night Rail Jam, the Divine Comedy (DC) Terrain Park opened this morning! Located just up from the Beach near Lift 1, the park opened with nine features. Registration for tonight’s NYE Night Rail Jam is available today – learn more.

Today we also opened Lift #3, the Hermosa Park Express Lift! This backside lift will be accessed from the top of Lift #4, Twilight. From there, guests can ski beginner trails Nirvana and Hermosa Parkway to the bottom terminal of Lift #3. From the summit, you’ll take beginner trail Silvertip back to the front side. This has been a huge effort for our snowmaking crew – if you see them, please be sure to tell them thanks for their incredible work!

Over the last few weeks, Purgatory has opened more beginner terrain, and with Learn to Ski and Snowboard month beginning next week, there’s never been a better time to learn to ski or snowboard. Here are our favorite options:

If You’ve Never Tried Skiing or Snowboarding:
Check out our new FREE lesson deal (with the purchase of a full-day, full-price lift ticket, your 2-hour group lesson is FREE) or the guest-favorite One, Two FREE program. These are two of our most popular offers and offer first-timers the best, most affordable way to learn how to ski or ride.

If You Want to Improve Your Skills:
Purgatory offers everything from group lessons to private lessons and specialty clinics. Our favorite classes to teach for adults include our Ladies Turn – a women’s ski weekend (January 26-28, 2018), our 8 week and 4 week programs, and of course, our powder clinics on snow days! There’s something for everyone!

If You’re Looking for a Lesson for Your Child:
Our ski school director, Val Schwiderski offers some great pointers for parents in our recent Q&A session with her. Read them here.

If you’re still considering your final plans for New Year’s Eve, remember that Purgatory is offering a huge lineup, everything from night skiing and tubing (until 12:30 a.m.!) to live music at Purgy’s (featuring Durango’s favorite bluegrass band, The Outskirts) to fireworks with a torchlight parade and more. See the full list of ways you can ring in the New Year at Purgatory.
