More Progress on Lift 8 and $10 Million in Multi-Resort Improvements

Last week was a busy one at Purg, and this week we continue work on Lift 8 with attention turning to tower foundations.  The crews are now excavating and forming the tower foundations, as well as removing the old Lift 8 mid-way towers in preparation of the new high-speed quad installation.  Crews will also be focusing on cutting a new trail off of Ray’s Ridge.

Here are some recent images.

Earlier this morning, we announced that Purgatory is part of a $10 million multi-resort capital campaign. Three of the four ski areas in our southwest collective (Sipapu, Purgatory and Snowbowl) are building new lifts, and every ski area is adding new trails and improved snowmaking infrastructure.

What this means for Purgatory:
Replacing Legends Lift 8: As you know, after 30 years of transporting guests to some of the best ski terrain in Colorado, Lift 8, otherwise known as the Legends Lift, will be replaced with a high-speed detachable quad.

Adding More Legends Trails: With the new high-speed quad, Purgatory will also be adding two new trails off of Ray’s Ridge, as well as creating an intermediate trail that takes skiers & snowboarders from the old mid-way loading area to the bottom terminal of the Legends Lift 8.

Legend(ary) Snowmaking: Mountain crews will bolster the new high-speed quad with additional snowmaking infrastructure on the trails serviced by Lift 8 allowing mountain crews to open the new lift and some of Purgatory’s best terrain faster.

We’re excited about these changes happening at our mountain and at our sister resorts, Sipapu, Pajarito and Arizona Snowbowl!  Stay tuned for more updates.
