Winterfest 2017

We’ve packed all of our amazing winter activities into one fantastic weekend.  That’s why we call it “Winterfest!”

Ice Climbing: Kling Mountain Guides are at Purgatory Resort on Saturday and Sunday offering ice climbing classes for just $50. (Regular price $129 and up.) Classes are for all levels, even if you’ve never tried ice climbing before. Sign up here or call 970-259-1708.  They offer 3-hour classes twice a day this weekend.

Dog Sled Tours: Enjoy the ride of your life with Durango Dog Ranch. $175 for a one-hour tour for two passengers. Book in advance here.  They will be operating 10am – 3pm each day through MLK weekend, and their schedule typically fills up quickly.

Scenic Snowcat Tours:  Experience a scenic 30-minute ride in a snowcat and enjoy spectacular panoramic views!  $50 per person Saturday & Sunday at 12:30pm.  Reserve online or visit Guest Services

Terrain Park Clinics:  Snowsports School is offering half-day clinics for just $72 on Saturday and Sunday from 10am – noon and 1 – 3pm. Sign up at the Rental Shop.

Burton “Riglet Romp”:  Kids can romp around on snowboards at our Burton Riglet Park, supervised by our Snowsports instructors. FREE for kids ages 3 – 6, equipment included.  Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 2pm.

Snowcat Dinner Excursions:  Enjoy spectacular views of the alpenglow on the Needles Mountains, as well as unique culinary offerings in a cozy setting.  Experience a ride in the enclosed snowcat up to the Powderhouse Restaurant.  Start with delicious mulled wine, then savor a sophisticated menu of hors d’oeuvres, fresh salad, handcrafted soup, main course and dessert, plus 2 glasses of wine or beer.  5pm-8:30pm Saturday & Sunday (limited seating, reservations required) Book online, call 800-525-0892 or visit Guest Services.

Guided Snowshoe Tours Explore the mountain with a guided snowshoe tour at 9am or 1pm daily and learn about the geology, plants, and wildlife in the area.  Stop by Guest Services to make your reservation.

Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides: Buck’s Livery is offering sleigh rides starting at 4pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. $49 for adults, $39 for kids 12 and under. Call 970-385-2110 to sign up.

Tubing: The Tubing Hill is open Friday – Sunday from noon – 6pm.  $10 per hour.

Evening Snowshoe Tour: See the mountain in a whole different way, on a guided snowshoe tour. Take the last chair up on Saturday, and snowshoe down the mountain, stopping for wine and snacks at Powderhouse. Tour costs $65 and departs at 3:30pm, and returns by 7:15pm. Call Guest Services at  970-385-2147 to sign up.

Picasso & Vino:  Canceled due to instructor illness.  Sorry!  After skiing on Saturday, unleash your artistic side in an instructor-led painting session.  You’ll take home a beautiful 12×12 Purgatory winter scene that you created yourself!  $32/person.  Children welcome with parent.  Sign up here.  Saturday, 4:30 – 6:30pm.

Kids’ Night Out: Drop the kids off at The Den, Purgatory’s slopeside child care, for a fun Saturday night from 5:30 – 9pm. The evening includes pizza dinner, games, and movies for just $30 per child. Call 970-385-2144 for reservations.

Steamworks Brewing Osprey Pack GiveawaySteamworks Brewing is on the mountain Saturday with an Osprey pack giveaway at Purgy’s at 3pm.

Snowboard Giveaway from Alaskan Amber:  Be at Backside Bistro on Sunday at 2pm to enjoy some great Alaskan Amber beer and you might just be the lucky winner of a brand new snowboard!
