Scott Enduro Cup presented by Vittoria – Canceled
Purgatory Resort announced today the cancelation of the Scott Enduro Cup by Vittoria. The inaugural event was scheduled for August 11th-12th, 2018. Purgatory Mountain Bike Director Hogan Koesis said that the 416 Fire (which started 10 miles north of Durango on June 1, 2018 and burned over 50,000 acres) played a direct role in the race’s cancelation by permitting issues and use of out of bounds backcountry trails. Koesis said that all registered participants will receive a full refund and he is hopeful to bring this race series back to Purgatory in the future.
The Scott Enduro Cup makes its inaugural stop in Durango for the third round of the 2018 season. Surrounded by the San Juan Mountains, Durango and Purgatory Resort boast some of the most beautiful riding in the state. Spruce and aspen forests cover the high alpine and wildflowers bloom in mountain meadows. Riders can expect climbs at altitude, abundant wildlife, and technical descents through this southwest Colorado playground.
The Scott Enduro Cup at Purgatory will feature two days of combined backcountry riding and lift-accessed racing at our park. Here at Purgatory we have deep downhill roots and played host to the first-ever World Mountain Bike Championships in 1990.
NOTE: Due to the recent 416 fire the Scott Enduro Cup has been postponed until August 11th-12th.
