Mushroom & Wine Festival
The Purgatory Mushroom & Wine Festival presented by Vectra Bank has become a “wildly” popular event on Durango’s summer calendar. The forested area around the Resort is known far and wide for having an abundance of wild mushrooms. Our Mushroom & Wine Festival celebrates this abundance with guided mushroom hunts and a culinary showcase of Durango’s finest restaurants.
Tickets for the Saturday afternoon culinary extravaganza will be available at the door for $45. The Friday night dinner and Saturday morning mushroom foray are sold out.
Based on popular demand, we are expanding the Mushroom & Wine Festival to include a multi-course dinner on Friday night! We will also continue to have a full day of festivities on Saturday.
Friday Night Dinner
Join us in the exclusive Durango Mountain Club for an exquisite dining experience. Enjoy a six-course meal with wine pairings.
This dinner is priced at $100 per person, which includes tax and gratuity.
Note that seating for this special dinner is limited to 75 guests, and we do expect it to sell out.
Arancini- Fried Mushroom risotto with tomato sauce and herb crème fraiche
Arugula with lobster & lobster mushroom salad with blood orange champagne vinaigrette
Chanterelle –Olathe sweet corn chowder
Entrée # 1:
Honey Soy Salmon- Seared Salmon with Enoki Mushrooms and honey soy glaze, with rice and Asian vegetables
Entrée # 2:
Lamb Lollipop (wild mushroom dusted) with palisade peach / chanterelle compote, Parm polenta w/ wild mushrooms
Candy cap bread pudding, side of Boulder Ice Cream
Guided Forays: Local mushroom experts take small groups far back on the mountain to explore the forest for a wide variety of mushrooms. Your guides will assist you with identifying different types of mushrooms and provide helpful information along the way. Refreshments and transportation up the mountain are included. Guests have the option of riding a shuttle from the base area, or enjoying our scenic chair lift to the top of Lift 4 and then continuing up the mountain by shuttle.
The guided foray is priced at $39 per person.
Culinary Extravaganza: In the afternoon, five of Durango’s finest restaurants will share their favorite mushroom-inspired dishes! Each dish includes a wine pairing personally selected by the chef. The event also includes live music from The Assortment and cooking demonstrations from our guest chefs. This is an afternoon that your taste buds won’t soon forget!
The culinary extravaganza is priced at $45 for adults and $30 for guests under the age of 21.
Each year we invite five local restaurants to participate in the culinary showcase on Saturday afternoon. Our goal is to partner with the finest restaurants in Durango to make this a truly exceptional experience for our guests.
