Position Title:Terrain Park Groomer
Reports To:Snowmaking Manager
Operate heavy trail grooming equipment at night to prepare terrain parks and provide an enjoyable and safe mountain environment for Purgatory guests.
Operate heavy trail grooming equipment at night.
Perform Quality grooming to Purgatory property.
Terrain Park design and creativity.
Perform quality grooming without being supervised.
Perform regular preventative maintenance and care to grooming vehicles. Liaise with vehicle maintenance to ask maintenance questions and resolve problems.
Fuel equipment nightly.
Check all safety equipment for proper function.
Use proper safety equipment and procedures at all times. Be aware of the safety of people working around machines at all times.
Report any existing or potential safety hazard to supervisor immediately.
Operate machinery in a safe and careful manner to avoid damage to the machines and to protect corporate property, the forest land, wildlife habitat, and natural resources.
Change grooming implements according to conditions.
Complete paperwork: time cards, daily work log, fuel logs, trip tickets, and repair orders.
Hand tool work to create safe park features
Jib fabrication and repair.
Half-pipe construction and maintenance.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Solid knowledge of equipment operation. Basic knowledge of Purgatory terrain and mountain geography.
Alertness, precision, memory, concentration, judgement, ingenuity, problem solving, spatial perception, reasoning, initiative, patience, and verbal and written communication skills are necessary abilities.
Education or Formal Training: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of trail grooming experience preferred.
Materials and Equipment Directly Used:
90% of the workday is spent driving grooming equipment. Frequently engaged in normal conversation, frequently listening and using depth perception and near and far acuity. Occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and fingering. Occasionally lifting objects up to 100 pounds and carrying objects up to 70 pounds.
Exposure to noise levels of up to 65 decibels for 8 hours per day. Frequently exposed to fumes, odors, and gases. Occasional exposure to mists, mechanical and electrical hazards, highly exposed work sites, radiant energy, and burns, toxic, and/or caustic chemicals. This is a non-skiing position.
