General Purpose:

Verify and audit daily business reports for tickets, ski school, lodging, retail, rental, and food & beverage. Prepare and input journal entries into the general ledger software as necessary. Produce daily reports for revenue, payroll estimates, skier count, room nights, and snow reports. Assist with wholesale, property, and monthly reconciliations for accounting and management.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Verify and audit daily business reports, based on internal controls. Agree all payment forms to the appropriate backup.  Ascertain that all refunds and voids are supported and justified. Discrepancies in the audit process should be reviewed and corrected with the appropriate department supervisor, manager or director.  These responsibilities require extensive problem solving skills and diplomatic communication skills. This position is a liaison between accounting/business team and all departments at the resort.

Prepare daily journal entries for all departments based on the audit results.  Review all journal entries for accuracy. This task requires attention to detail.

Process and prepare reports including: revenue reports, skier count, snow report, room nights and daily payroll estimates.  From these reports prepare journal entries.

Assist in month end general ledger reconciliations of cash and credit card accounts, accounts receivable, wholesaler payable and group payable accounts as well as any revenue related accounts.

Assist in the reconciliation of on-lines sales and revenues on a daily basis.

Other Responsibilities:

Special Projects as requested by management.

Filing/maintaining records

Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  

  1. Solid knowledge of accounting principles (debits/credits)
  2. Experience in general ledger account reconciliations
  3. Ability to build and understand Excel worksheets;
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  5. Applicant must be detailed-oriented with superior follow-through skills.

Alertness, precision, reasoning, ingenuity, problem-solving, analytic ability, persuasiveness, memory, creativity, concentration, judgment, reasoning, imagination, initiative, patience are key attributes necessary to be successful in this position.

Education or formal training: Bachelors or Associates degree in accounting required.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

Computers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax, telephone and simple office equipment.

WORKING ENVIROMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

This position is at the mountain and requires reliable transportation for snow conditions.

Most of the workday is spent indoors, in a normal office environment. 70 % of the workday is spent sitting, 15% is spent standing and 15 % is spent walking. Occasionally, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds.  Frequently engage in ordinary conversation in person and on the phone. Constant use of near acuity and fingering while using computer keyboard. Constant uses of depth perception color and field of vision. Frequently reaching, handling and fingering. Occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and feeling.  Occasional exposure to electrical hazards, odors and poor ventilation. Frequent exposure to ultra-low frequency radiation (VDT).
