Maintenance Technician – Level II – Carpenter
Position Title:Maintenance Technician – Level II - Carpenter
Reports To:Director – Engineering
Perform construction and remodeling of wood and metal framed structures. Perform preventative and proactive maintenance and repairs to ensure safe and accessible use of all resort and condominium facilities.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
Construction of facilities from the ground up, including setting forms for the foundation, basic concrete finishing, framing, etc.
Facility remodels including setting beams/trusses, moving walls, etc.
Create and maintain records of time and materials used.
Prioritize repairs and projects as necessary.
Communicate effectively within the Engineering Department and with other departments regarding progress of projects, work orders and outstanding maintenance issues.
Ensure quality of construction and repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
Inspect and repair residences, commercial spaces and restaurants as necessary.
Perform repairs as detailed on work orders.
Discuss and plan work orders with supervisor ensuring that the tasks will be done in a safe and efficient manner.
Maintain tools in a neat and organized fashion ensuring that the tools are properly stored at the end of the shift.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
Control material inventory ensuring materials are properly restocked by placing on the reorder list as necessary.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have a working knowledge and skills of the following including the use of power tools and hand and their safe use:
- Sheetrock installation
- Basic concrete work
- Drywall repair and texturing
- Basic roofing
- Basic construction
- Basic troubleshooting
- Basic use of a multi-meter
- Must be a self-starter with ability to find creative solutions to problems.
- Basic computer skills
Licenses or Formal Training:
Must have valid state-issued driver’s license.
Education or Formal Training:
High school diploma or GED preferred. College or technical trade school would be a plus.
Two or more years of work related experience.
Material and Equipment Directly Used:
Electrical/battery powered tools and hand tools including table saws, miter saws, reciprocating saws, skill saws, drills, sanders, electric drain cleaner, etc.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Typically, 85% of the work day is spent indoors: 15% of the work day is spent outdoors (for high volume propane project days, working outside time will increase substantially) in constantly changing weather conditions, including snow, extreme cold and wet in winter and heat, thunder storms in summer. 20% of the work day is spent standing, 70% of the day is spent walking and 10% is spent sitting.
Exposure to high noise levels for up to 1/2 hour a day. Occasional exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards, high exposed work sites and caustic, toxic chemicals, radiant energy, fumes, odors, dusts, mists and gases in the atmosphere. This is a non-skiing position.
