Courier (Temporary Position)
Position Title:Courier - Temporary Position
Reports To:Accounts Payable Administrator
Purchase, collect, transport, deliver merchandise, documents and banking documents as directed by the Accounting department, to ensure an efficient and reliable service to the company.
Complete daily purchases and deliveries for Purgatory Resort. Transport and distribute purchased and picked-up goods; business data, routers, company mail.
Maintain daily courier log, to keep an accurate record of all collections and deliveries. Insure expenditures are tracked by each department.
Metering company mail and transport to post office on a daily basis.
Prepare list for next day’s collections and deliveries.
Maintain courier vehicle in good working order. Wash and sweep vehicle and check oil, water and lubricants regularly. Lock all secure areas daily. Report any vehicle problems and schedule maintenance with vehicle maintenance.
No smoking allowed in the courier truck. Absolutely no riders allowed unless authorized by Accounting. Company cell phone should not be used for personal use except for emergency or as authorized by Accounting.
Ensure UPS, FEDX, and miscellaneous freight is properly recorded and pertinent departments are notified. Also ensure incoming and outgoing merchandise is properly logged.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of Durango area and location of businesses. Expert driving skills in all weather conditions. Ability to constantly lift and carry heavy objects throughout the workday. Outstanding time management skills. Basic clerical skills. Must be able to meet Purgatory Resort minimum standards for driving company vehicles, and must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Alertness, precision, honesty, problem-solving, memory, concentration, judgment, reasoning, initiative, patience are necessary. Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Education or Formal Training: High School diploma or GED preferred. Current and valid Colorado Driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Experience: Ability to drive 4-wheel drive, standard transmission, full size pick-up in all types of weather, varying from extreme winter storm conditions to thunder and lightening storms.
Appearance: Appearance standards must be met as outlined in company handbook to include company uniform, nametags, headwear, etc. Neat and professional appearance required at all times as documented in handbook.
Material and Equipment Directly Used:
Pick-up truck, van, trailers, oil, gasoline and lubricants, packages, all types of construction materials, miscellaneous merchandise and computers, postage metering machine and simple office equipment.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
10% of the work day is spent outdoors in changing weather conditions, varying from extreme cold and snow in winter to heat and thunder and lightening storms in summer. 60% of the work day is spent driving and 30% is spent indoors, in a normal office environment. 60% of the workday is spent sitting, 10% is spent standing and 30% is spent walking.
Constantly lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Frequently engage in ordinary conversation. Frequently climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, use of near and far acuity, depth perception, color and field of vision.
Frequent exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards, fumes, odors and poor ventilation. Occasionally transporting potentially hazardous materials (O2, Co2, Acetylene). This is a non-skiing position.
