Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the accounting records of twenty entities, compile year end data for the tax accountant, execute bi-monthly payroll, administer health and liability insurance policies, record real estate sales and purchases, manage administrative accounts payable, investor distributions, and employee reimbursements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, and financial reporting
  • Record real estate sales and purchases
  • Execute and record bi-monthly payroll
  • Maintain the payroll service employee database for new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, employee data updates
  • Administer general liability, workers compensation, and health insurance policies
  • Manage administrative accounts payable
  • Execute and record investor distributions
  • Process and record employee reimbursements
  • Assist the company’s tax accountant in compiling tax returns
  • Manage the President’s personal expenditures and financial profile
  • Ensure that company financial reports are prepared in compliance with policies and directives
  • Ensure the monthly and quarterly bank compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected
  • Supports budget and forecasting activities
  • Ensure that the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities. Responsible for continued development of these associates
  • Have direct management responsibility of the accounting intern(s)
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Responds to inquiries from the Director of Accounting, CFO and COO and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
  • Support Director of Accounting, CFO and COO with special projects and workflow process improvements


  • Minimum 5 years experience in related accounting experience
  • Minimum 4 year degree in accounting and finance
  • Demonstrated excellence in accounting, finance, real estate finance, and related specialties
  • High level attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Superior project, process and people management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
