Bike Park Access: What You Need to Know

With the delayed operations of the Purgatory Express (Lift 1) chairlift, here is what you need to know about accessing the Purgatory Bike Park.

Q: Do I need to purchase a Bike Park pass if I am a passholder?

A: If you have the MTB Power Pass, you do not need to purchase a Bike Park pass for the day.

Q: How much will a Bike Park pass cost?

A: A pass to shuttle with your personal vehicle to the top will cost $30. This is only available until the Purgatory Express is back up and running. Once the Purgatory Express chairlift is running, a day ticket for the Bike Park will cost $45, and shuttle passes will no longer be available.

Q: Is the $30 Bike Park pass per person or per vehicle?

A: The ticket is per person. At the time of payment, each guest will be required to sign a waiver.

Q: Where can I purchase a Bike Park pass?

A: Bike Park passes may be purchased from the ticket office or rental shop. Passes will not be sold online.

Q: How do I access the Purgatory Bike Park?

A: Until the Purgatory Express is back up and running, the Bike Park may be accessed by way of a personal vehicle shuttle. A Bike Park pass is required to use the Purgatory Bike Park trails. Click here for directions.

Q: Is Purgatory offering shuttles to the top?

A: No. Personal vehicles must be used to access the Bike Park.

Q: Is there someone checking passes at the top?

A: Yes. Wristbands will be issued and scanned for all daily Bike Park passes upon purchase, and passes will be scanned for all passholders.

Q: Purgatory is on USFS public lands, so why can't I just access the trails whenever I want?

A: We are proud to operate on the San Juan National Forest through a special use permit issued by the USFS. Our existing plan (excluding the exemption that was approved during the lift closure) does not allow shuttling.

Q: Can I park my car at the top and ride my bike down?

A: No. All vehicles must return to the Base Area after dropping off riders.

Q: What are the hours for the Bike Park?

A: The Bike Park will operate daily from 9am – 4pm.
