Mountain Studies Institute (Resilience Youth Summit)

Mountain Studies Institute conducts scientific research in areas such as air and water quality, climate change, biodiversity, and land use. The Resilience Youth Summit is planned for next Spring and will bring together middle school and high school students from Durango and Silverton to investigate topics related to forest and watershed health, and share their findings. MSI will also coordinate opportunities for the students to present their work to local officials.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado

Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally-supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Measured goals are focused in areas that have a positive impact in a child’s life: increased self confidence, improved academic performance, increased interest in learning, and stronger, positive relationships with adults.
