A 3-Day Itinerary for Your Romantic Ski Vacation
Plan an unforgettable and romantic ski getaway with your partner
Purgatory Resort is the perfect romantic getaway for you and your partner. Breathtaking mountain views and countless activities will make for an unforgettable weekend. If you are planning a couple’s ski trip to Purgatory, here’s our 3-day itinerary to help you get the most out of your romantic vacation.
The best way to experience Purgatory is to stay close to the action. By booking your lodging at the resort, you’ll get to experience the stunning alpenglow of evening in the San Juan Mountains while also being only steps away from the slopes and all of the other activities offered at Purgatory. The outdoor, heated pool and hot tub are the best way to experience the sunset on your first night.
Day 1: Get to Know Purgatory
Wake up early and enjoy the breakfast buffet at Purgy’s before hitting the slopes for first chair at 9am. Enjoy favorites such as fresh waffles, eggs benedict, hashbrowns, sausage, bacon and more.
Spend the day with your partner exploring the front of the mountain and warming up on a few of our favorite runs. Paradise, West Fork and Yellow Brick Road are all great to start the day on. Want a tour of the mountain while improving your skills? Take a private lesson with your SO and get the most of your first day on the mountain.
Wrap up the day with pizza and a glass of wine at Paradise Pizzeria before calling it a night.
Day 2: Head to the Backside
Enjoy a breakfast sandwich at Village Market & Deli and fuel up for an excellent day two of skiing or snowboarding.
Head to the backside via Lift 3 and enjoy some of the best groomed trails on the mountain. Fast and smooth runs such as Peace, Boogie and Where will have you and your partner smiling all the way back down to the bottom.
For lunch, make your way to the Backside Bistro for table service and a beautiful mountain backdrop. These are some of the best lunch views you can get on the mountain.
Explore the rest of the backside on Lift 8 before traversing back to the front and finishing the day with dessert at the Waffle Cabin.
Day 3: Relax and Rejuvenate
What better way to end a wonderful ski vacation than with a relaxing activity and a spa day?
Spend the morning reveling in the cool, fresh mountain air. A snowmobile tour offers easy backcountry access to over 35,000 acres and 75 miles of trails. Or head across the street to the Durango Nordic Center and enjoy the first part of the day cross country skiing or snowshoeing on 21 kilometers of groomed, scenic trails.
One you’re done, relax with a Swedish, deep tissue, or therapeutic stone massage at The Woodhouse Day Spa at Purgatory. A massage is the perfect way to treat your tired muscles after your ski getaway.
Wrap up your trip with a walk around Village Plaza and check out the unique shops for a special gift for your significant other.
